Seismic Risk Assessment & Seismic Mitigation

CCS Group evaluated and mitigated seismic risk at Edward Jones International Headquarters in St. Louis, MO.  The facility is a 10-story reinforced concrete structure that was designed and constructed in the mid-1970s, prior to the incorporation of modern seismic design provisions in the region. 
SEISMIC RISK ASSESSMENT
  • Performed Tier 1 evaluation for building and nonstructural components in accordance with ASCE 31
  • Completed a detailed finite element evaluation to identify structural deficiencies (ASCE 31, Tier 2 evaluation)
  • Provided preliminary mitigation recommendations for the building and nonstructural components 
  • Presented preliminary costs for seismic mitigation of the building and nonstructural components
​RETROFIT DESIGN 
  • Designed structural strengthening measures for the building in accordance with ASCE 41 using a linear dynamic analysis
  • Performed calculations for nonstructural strengthening measures
  • Coordinated with fiber reinforced polymer manufacturers for structural strengthening requirements
  • Prepared detailed construction documents for strengthening the building and nonstructural components
​CONSTRUCTION PHASE
  • Reviewed pricing submittals from mechanical, electrical, and fire protection contractors
  • Performed inspections to verify that the installations complied with the intent of the construction documents
  • Implemented scheduling controls to coordinate activities with ongoing daily operations
